An Atlanta-based strategic management and technology-consulting firm that moved to SouthPark in September is in the process of adding 100 new jobs over the next five years in south Charlotte. Jabian Consulting, which is working on a lease for a home on Fairview Road, will hire consultants, managers and directors in the near future, and company officials are saying loud and clear that this is a local endeavor.
“Jabian is a local consulting firm, which means we are hiring locally, developing business opportunities locally and focusing on giving back to the community locally,” Courtney Ramey, the company’s executive director, said
Jabian takes an integrated approach to creating and implementing strategies, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce officials said when welcoming the business to town, enhancing business processes, developing human capital and better aligning technology, ultimately helping clients drive business value up by increasing revenue and decreasing operational costs.
“We look forward to the firm’s plans for growth over the next five years that will provide quality jobs in Charlotte,” Chamber President Bob Morgan said in a news release.
The almost 8-year-old company is working hard to recruit talent in Charlotte and, according to Ramey, conducted a lot of research before expanding into Charlotte. The move was ultimately finalized because of the city’s energy, diversity of industry, number of technology-focused companies and local talent, she said.
“… One of the reasons we moved to Charlotte is because we figured it’s a good market for the type of people we’re looking for,” Ramey, who is originally from North Carolina, said. “I feel like I’m coming home to the Carolinas. Charlotte has been a really welcoming community.”
While Charlotte is home to a number of information technology consulting firms, Ramey said Jabian will differ in the Queen City because of the local focus, and because the company doesn’t require employees to travel far for business.
“Jabian sees Charlotte as a city full of great consultants who are sick of leaving the great city of Charlotte, traveling,” she said.
In a statement released by Jabian, co-founding partner Chris Reinking said the company’s focus is people first and revenue second.
“We provide an environment that allows our consultants to emphasize personal growth and the time to focus on our client’s toughest problems, not our weekly flight schedules,” he said.
Allowing consultants to stay and work within the city grants the company the ability to focus on the community. Ramey mentioned the company has already taken steps to have a foundation that will donate to nonprofits in the area, based on what the employees are passionate about.
“As a city, Charlotte is very focused on giving back to the community, and that aligns really well with the company and me personally,” Ramey said.
Jabian was ranked 15th among firms of the same size in Consulting Magazine’s 2013 “Best Firms to Work For” list and also has been on the Inc. 500|5000 fastest-growing companies list for three consecutive years.
