Atlanta, Georgia – June 29, 2012 – On Saturday, June 2nd, close to 20 Jabian Cares volunteers came out to support the 2012 HouseProud House Party event. Dressed in our bright blue shirts we were ready to party – and by party, I mean participate in the annual HouseProud corporate fundraiser.  We partied by completing no-cost home repairs to keep Atlanta local Ms. Gloria Andrews in her home.  This is first Atlanta House Party event for HouseProud as an independent 501(c)3, as they have been a program of the Atlanta Community Toolbank for the last 20+ years. Jabian Cares helped make this inaugural event successful by bringing the largest corporate volunteer team. Through Lauren Abraham Mahoney’s fundraising efforts and a Jabian Cares matching gift pledge we were able to donate over $5,000 and serve as a major event sponsor!  This HouseProud event is a great example of how Jabian encourages its people to be passionate about involvement within our local community.

The homeowner, Ms. Andrews, was friendly and grateful, making the day a special one for all of us. We repainted the front of her house, covering the old pink with a more attractive green, and planted flower beds to brighten her yard. We even had a few skilled volunteers help remove a set of rotted wood stairs, replace front porch screens, and clean up an overgrown tree.  Our team had a great time at the work site and really enjoyed the physical labor!

Overall, the House Party was a great event and a terrific opportunity for Jabian Cares to make a presence in the community and support HouseProud.
